About this session
This session is designed as an introduction to typical speech sounds development in children and will support participants to be able to understand and successfully implement speech sound programmes for specific children.
Do you work with children whose speech you don’t understand?
Are you frustrated that you have a child who can say a speech sound in one situation but not in another?
The session is led by Jane McKean. Jane is a self confessed Speech and language therapy geek who knows that having the right intervention to support communication at the right time makes a world of difference.
This session will provide a little background on speech acquisition and lots of tried and tested ideas to keep the child (and you!) motivated to keep practicing and get that sound right.
There is also a question-and-answer session built in for you to raise specific issues
Useful for:
- Parents, teachers and Learning support assistants who want to feel more informed about speech sound development and equipped with practical strategies to use at school and home
