About this session

Do you know children who are struggling to comprehend what they are reading?

Are they reading with accuracy but can not answer any questions about the text they have just read?

The session covers the principles of Reciprocal Reading - a research-based approach/intervention that helps develop comprehension skills.

We Will:

  • explain the rationale behind using this as an alternative to guided reading
  • share the theory /research that this is rooted in
  • walk you through how to establish groups and run sessions

As a result of this session you will have the confidence to know the intervention will work.

You will have all the resources you need (including differentiated prompt cards and record sheet) and the ideas to implement sessions immediately in your setting.

Useful for:

  • pupils who require support with comprehension

Suitable for:

  • Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs), Teachers, Learning Support Assistants and Parents

Also included:

  • Summary sheet of Key Points
